Dominating Win by JAMBAR Athlete Sage Hurta-Klecker at Penn Relays

Sage Sets Sights on Olympic Trials and Paris

Captivating the audience, Sage Hurta Klecker, a former track standout at the University of Colorado Boulder and JAMBAR Pro Athlete, took center stage at the prestigious 2024 Penn Relays. Her victory in the Women’s Olympic Development 1500-meter race not only showcased her incredible talent but also foreshadowed the exhilarating summer ahead for the athlete. Since joining forces with JAMBAR in 2023, Sage, alongside her husband Joe Klecker, a 2021 Olympian, has relied on JAMBAR Organic Energy Bars to fuel their training and recovery, propelling them toward qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Hailing from New York, Sage felt the energy pulsating through Franklin Field's crowd as she began her surge with 300m to go and unlocked a deadly kick into the final 100m stretch, crossing the finish line in 1st place with a dominating time of 4:07.10. In a post-race interview, she credited her strength and kick for securing her win at the Relays. The excitement continued after Hurta-Klecker’s race as she was able to watch her fellow OAC teammates, Yared Nuguse and Ollie Hoare, clinch an impressive 1-2 finish in the Men's Olympic Development Mile.

Sage's victory held particular significance, as JAMBAR was onsite as a proud partner of the 2024 Penn Relays, showcasing our commitment to the track and field community. From our sampling booth at the Carnival Village expo to our support in the Athlete Village and Coaches' area, we were fully immersed in the action. Sage and Joe made a special appearance at our booth, engaging with fans, signing autographs, and sharing their inspiring journey with attendees. It was a thrilling opportunity for fans to connect with these world-class athletes and for JAMBAR to demonstrate our support for the sport.

Sage's recent training regimen has hinted at her peak condition; before Penn Relays, she completed a workout of 6 x 400 meters, consistently clocking in splits under 62 seconds per quarter every rep. Training at altitude in Boulder, CO, and traveling internationally for races, Sage emphasizes, “Now that the outdoor track season is in full swing, my focus is on adequate fueling - making sure I'm eating what my body needs to recover and train at a high level day in and day out. JAMBARs help top off my energy levels, aid in post-workout recovery, and tide me over between meals," said Sage. "And in addition to having high quality ingredients, the bars are delicious and my favorite, Malt Nut Melody, gives me my peanut butter fix!

Now, with her sights set on the ultimate prize, Sage is gearing up for this summer’s Olympic Trials, aiming to secure her spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics. With aspirations of joining the United States Olympic Team for the first time, Sage is poised to establish her unique legacy and make her mark in the world of athletics. She shares the Olympic dream with her husband Joe, who competed at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

As Sage embarks on this monumental journey to Paris, she carries with her the unwavering support of her teammates and sponsors, including the team here at JAMBAR. As the summer approaches, all eyes will be on Sage as she strives to etch her name in Olympic history.

What’s next for Sage before June? She’s racing the 800m on May 18 at the L.A. Grand Prix. With determination, grit, and a relentless desire to push boundaries, Sage is primed to shine at this summer’s US Olympic Trials, hosted at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, OR, from June 21 to 30.
