Even Spiders Love JAMBARs!

JAMBAR NAMED THE OFFICIAL TEAM SPONSOR OF
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND RUNNING PROGRAMS

If you’re a fan of the Eagles, Bulldogs or Tigers, you often need to clarify which school you’re cheering on. However, if you’re a Spider fan, there’s exactly one college in the country you can be talking about - the University of Richmond (UR). We’re thrilled to sponsor the Richmond Track & Field team, a program as unique and ambitious as its mascot.

The UR Spiders have a proud athletic tradition. They compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference, and field 16 D1 sports teams. The Spiders have brought home 73 conference titles since 2000, and The Princeton Review recently ranked Richmond seventh in the country for best athletic facilities, and first in the country for the most beautiful campus

The partnership between UR and JAMBAR began with Steve Taylor, coach of UR men’s cross country and assistant coach of track and field, and the head of the Collegiate Running Association. Steve was a PowerBar athlete back in the 90s, so when he heard that Jennifer Maxwell created a new energy bar, he couldn’t wait to try it. “As a lifelong runner, Jennifer brings real authenticity to the table - she knows first-hand what athletes need to fuel and recover,” said Steve. “As soon as I tried a JAMBAR, I knew our runners would really appreciate the organic ingredients, balanced nutrition and great taste.”

JAMBAR sponsored the 2023 USATF Cross Country Championships held in Richmond, and began supplying bars to the University of Richmond runners. The popularity of the bars became a poorly kept secret with athletes, so JAMBAR became the official team sponsor of the Women’s Track & Field team and the Cross Country program. The bars can now be found in UR training rooms, student-athlete fueling stations, and locker rooms.

“We’ve gotten great feedback from student-athletes, who love having an organic bar that tastes great, is highly digestible, and includes gluten-free and vegan options,” said Lauren Wicklund, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Leadership & Student-Athlete Development of University of Richmond Athletics. “JAMBARs offer a clean, healthy option for everything from snacking to fueling optimum performance at the highest level of sports.”

At last month’s Penn Relays, Spider runners stopped by the
JAMBAR booth and met JAMBAR ambassador Joe Klecker (second from left).
