JAMBAR Wraps Up Aspen Snowmass at Freestyle Friday Event

On April 4, Aspen Highlands came alive with bumps, jumps and a whole lot of retro swagger for Freestyle Friday. This spring event takes place just above the popular Merry-Go-Round — and is one of the most fun, feel-good events on the Aspen Snowmass calendar. The field at Scarlett’s Run came ready to ski with their ’80s headbands, neon suits, jean jackets and big smiles. As the official energy bar of Aspen Snowmass, JAMBAR was on-site sampling bars and enjoying the day with racers and spectators!

The mountain opened around 10:00am for training, with the real action kicking off from 12:00pm and running until about 3:00pm — where freestyle skiers battled it out, round after round hot doggin’ down the mountain.  Skiers competed in divisions based on age and skill level, from 11 & under all the way to 40+, with prize money on the line for the top competitors. This year’s event had about 70 entries including several skiers from the popular Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club.

This year’s event was extra special as we had Jonny Moseley, Olympic Gold Medalist & JAMBAR Ambassador, on the mic as event emcee introducing skiers, providing commentary on the runs and simply hyping up the crowd! Jonny was joined by the popular broadcaster and pro skier Uncle E (aka Chris Ernst). It was a treat for participants and fans to have Jonny there — he brings so much energy wherever he goes and reminds you why this sport is so much fun. If you were there watching him commentate or chatting with him about your run, you could feel the joy and passion he brings to the mountain.

Jonny summed up the day best with “Freestyle Friday is pure fun for me. One of my favorite things is watching the young freestyle skiers compete. It was a great day with JAMBAR, sharing good vibes and great snacks. JAMBARS, especially Peanut Butter Malt flavor, is perfect for the slopes.”

Our JAMBAR tent at the base of the course was packed all day. Team JAMBAR was handing out bars to participants and spectators. We sampled fan favorite Peanut Butter Malt, with its rich pea-nutty depth and Tropical Trio with bright notes of banana and coconut for your spring laps. People kept telling us, “These are perfect for the slopes — now I am fueled to ski the rest of the afternoon.” JAMBARS slide easily in to any winter jacked and great because they don’t freeze, break or crumble.

It was a good vibes event with young competitors showing us their best, wearing throwback outfits, and getting to see Aspen local and special guest Hotdog Hans (yes, the one and only Alex Ferreira). Freestyle Friday was a full-on celebration of community, ski culture and all things Aspen.

And here’s a pro tip: You don’t have to wait for an event to get your JAMBAR fix. Our bars are sold on-mountain at over 15 mountain locations at Aspen, Snowmass, Highlands, and Buttermilk. If you need a pre-lift boost or a mid-mogul recharge, we’ve got you covered all season long. We sponsor several Aspen Snowmass winter and summer events like the SkiMo Power of Four, Battle of the Bowl, Summer Power of Four Run & Ride events. Look for us to say hello and come try a JAMBAR.
