Jammin’ in Oregon at the epic Snow Skate Surf event

Last month, a bold group of more than 100 outdoor enthusiasts gathered for a single day of trifecta adventure. The sold-out snow skate surf (“sss”) event kicked off on the snow of Mt. Hood, moved to concrete bowls, and finished up at the pumping swells of Pacific City, OR. The sss was for anyone who desired to complete a trifecta (skiing or snowboarding, skating and surfing in a single day). In addition to the awesomeness of the sports themselves, snow skate surf was an opportunity to seize all of Oregon’s beauty in a 24-hour period, and enjoy the state’s highest point at sunrise and lowest point at sunset.

Snow skate surf is unique because it’s an adult-only, non-competitive event – which is hard to come by. The event attracts athletes, van-lifers, 9-5ers, artists, adventure seekers and everyone in between. Many of the participants were new to at least one of the sports, so some dropped in on a skateboard or put on a wetsuit for the very first time.

Of course, JAMBARs were on hand, and proved to be the perfect snack to fuel the journey. Check out this epic video shot by @hellobrigit (music by @zkovan) which highlights the adrenaline and excitement of the day.

“The colorful and playful branding of JAMBAR totally resonated with the ethos of our event – it was a no-brainer to partner with them for our third year of snow skate surf,” said founder Liam Meirow. “The brand’s enthusiasm for adventure, passion for music and connecting people with the outdoors just felt right for fueling our participants from Mt. Hood to Pacific City, Oregon.”

The sss award ceremony, a highlight of the day, was hosted at Timber Sands, an uber-hip camping spot outside Pacific City. The awards were given to individuals who encompass the sss spirit, including:

  • Trifecta Meister
  • Magic Mentor
  • Rookie of The Year
  • Biggest Wipeout
  • Best Outfit (the most competitive award in the contest!)

After dinner and the awards ceremony, everyone danced to a legendary DJ trio until midnight, and then transitioned to an acoustic set next to the bonfire under the stars.

“We want to continue offering the most premium experience to those who show up with stoke,” says Meirow. “We hope to expand our partnership network with sponsors and nonprofit organizations so that sss has enhanced mentoring, gear offerings and ride sharing programs.  For 2024 expect even more hype, tastier food and elevated moments woven throughout the day.”

Coming up August 25-26 is another iconic event that also kicks off on the top of Mt. Hood: Hood To Coast Relay. It’s the largest running and walking relay race in the world, drawing participants from over 40 countries and all 50 states. Known as the Mother of All Relays, the event takes 8 to 12 member relay teams 198 miles from the iconic top of Mount Hood to the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. JAMBAR is thrilled to be partnering with Hood To Coast and supporting over 12,000 runners on their journey. Click here for more deets and we hope to see you in Oregon!
